5 DIY Natural Homemade Shampoo Recipes
I normally do not comment on pop culture on the blog. I do notice it. I have a twitter! LOL. Recently, there has been such a explosion of backlash in regards to the brand Shea Moisture and their unfortunate decision to have a commercial that appeared to white wash the product. The commercial features a racial ambiguous looking woman with curly hair, and a couple of red heads talking about the product. I have seen this product before. I have never used it. When I really started growing my hair, I was already in Germany. There weren’t really products for natural hair at that point. I started making my own. The market was not there, so I did not leave it up to a company to help me take care of my hair. While, I would have loved to simply go to the store to get something for a twist out, I was stuck with having to create it for myself. This is where I started to look for homemade shampoo recipes.
When I saw this backlash, I thought to myself. There are tons of black owned products to choose from. They don’t seem to want their product base anymore, so move on to their brands. Since I am all about the chemical free lifestyle, I think women/men would benefit from learning to make THEIR OWN products. Sounds difficult? Well it just isn’t. I wanted to share some of the homemade shampoo recipes I have used over the years for shampoo today. I will share more for other things like conditioner or deep cleaning treatments in subsequent blog posts.

1 raw egg
1 tbspn basic shampoo
Combine all ingredients in bowl and mix until smooth. Use shampoo and follow with cool rinse. Rinsing with warm water will cause eggs to form. Discard after use.

Dry shampoo recipe
1/4 cup cornstarch
Sprinkle the cornstarch in hair. Let the hair soak it up. Use a brush to remove.
